Lisa Leath, SHRM-SCP, is the Founder of Leath HR Group. She has been recognized with several awards in recent years, including Top 50 HR teams from OnCon Icon, two Coastal Entrepreneur Awards for Vantaca and Worktok, a “40 Under 40,” and consistent placement on the Wilmington Business Journal’s Biz100 list.
Today, Lisa serves full-time as Chief People Officer for Vantaca, a rapidly growing SaaS company, where she leads the People and Culture function through a period of significant scale. She founded Leath HR Group in 2017 and remains its owner; the firm continues to serve clients under dedicated day-to-day leadership while Lisa focuses on Vantaca.
Before joining Vantaca, Lisa was VP Human Resources for Alcami, supporting global HR operations in pharma. Prior to that, she held several HR leadership positions with Corning, Inc., after getting her start in HR with a large intellectual property law firm in New York City.
As an HR leader who partners closely with CEOs, she is always looking for ways to advance the business. Her philosophy in life: “Yes is the answer. What is the question?” She also hosts HR Nightmares, a podcast where she brings her candid, no-theater perspective to the realities of the people profession.
Lisa prides herself on being philanthropic and involved. In the community, she served as Board Chair of the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, supporting the chamber’s mission “to position our community for prosperity by cultivating business growth.” She has previously served on the Communities in Schools of Cape Fear and Cape Fear Museum boards and as Board Chair for United Way of the Cape Fear Area.
No matter the business or industry, her approach has stayed consistent: stay on the cutting edge of benchmarked best practices, then tailor “next practice” HR solutions to specific industries and situations. She has a reputation for building strong processes and strategic direction for demanding leaders.
